Little Clues from the Universe
On this day, a friend and I just finished lunch. I walked over to the marigolds to admire them. We both sat there stooped over to see them closely and then she saw the grasshopper that I almost missed. I wish there was more sunshine in the photo, but it was shady. I thought this would be a good photo for this blog, for the luck symbolism of the humble grasshopper.

I wanted to add that now having written that flurry out of my system this morning and sharing it here, as the day progressed I started feeling calmer toward the latter part. After some thinking and one more intuitive check-in, I decided I would not be moving out of my current place until the time was absolutely right. It’s nice to be able to track my emotions here too; it feels as though they went thorough many shifts through the course of the day. At the end of the day on my drive home, I saw many aspects of Mother Nature that made me accept my many sides of being human. I breathe a nice deep breath as I type this, and as I set my thoughts on the hawks that I saw flying in the wind. On windy days, they seem to like to fly into it and hover right in it, so that they don’t have to flap their wings, rather they settle right in the center of the wave and allow it to move them about naturally. What a heavenly and soothing sight to behold.
Oh Rebb! I'm glad I read your original, even though I never got round to commenting then. Was coming back again for a re-read. I think I would have acted much the same as you - both in deciding to move out and then thinking better of it; both in writing the blog post and then editing it all out later. Acting on impulse can take a lifetime of practice! But I think we learn more from our errors than from getting it right.
Rebb,
I agree with Vincent.
It's a coincidence, but I, too, had a personal emergency. A sprinckler wasn't working well, so I tried to fix it, but it kept running. Probably two or three hours passed when I noticed it. It should stop after 10 min. So I tried to fix it again. I twisted a control and a sprinkler head here and there, pulled a few places, and twisted further, then it went blasting in full force and the head began circling 360 degree. This is a specical large powerful head that covers a wide area. I was soaking wet. Water ran down to the street, down to the corner like a stream. Neighbers came to help me, but it was completely out of control, and finally, late last night, my very capable neighbor came home and shut the main valve. Then, he gave me a sound advice: call my gardener.
So, my day started by talking with my Mexican gardener and my Mexidcan neighbor as a translator, but as usual, I tried to solve our communication problems beforehand, and, instead of solving, it seems multiplying.
I wish I'm strong enough to open and shut the main line, and also fix plumbing problems myself. You probably can do that. Isn't that right?
That´s a beautiful photo, Rebb. I saw you had another post this morning, but then when I opened it again now, it was gone. I don´t know what was written there. I´ve been running a lot, and consequently missing many things, but I do hope it was nothing too bad, and I´m glad you feel calmer now. :-)
Vincent, Acting on impulse can be a dangerous game. We do learn from our errors, yet in this case, I’m glad I came to my senses. My biggest life lesson that I am still working on is not taking things too personally. The good news is I went and chopped my hair off today—a more manageable change. I have to remember I do live in nature. We’ve had a lot of little voles around this year and recently the hawks have been circling and eating part of them and dropping them. I only came to realize this today when I added up why I was seeing so many hawks circling and then finding little gifts around that they didn’t finish up. Anyhow, the good news, it opened up friendly dialogue and he figured that I would catch on to the path he had created for me to the laundry. So, there you have it. A good case of Rebb’s emotions and feelings getting the better of her. All feels much better now. Thanks for you comments.
Keiko, You and I often seem in synch with little things. Pictures of certain flowers, blue days :), etc. I’m sorry to hear about your sprinkler emergency. It sounds awful. You bring up a good point. I’m not sure if I know where the main line is. I definitely don’t know how to fix plumbing problems. I hope the gardener fixes it, so that doesn’t happen again. Hope your day got better.
Lu, I’m so glad you like the photo! It wasn’t too bad of a post. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me and I probably had too much coffee that morning and it spurred me on. Funny, I say, "that morning" as thought it were days ago. It really feels far away now--thank goodness. Thank you. Yes, I feel much calmer. Ahhhh. :)
Rebb,
Because you drive a truck, I thought you are good at fixing things around your home. Silly me. And thank you for your words, and I'm sorry that I wrote on and on about the sprinkler problem. Nobody is interested in that!
Keiko, That’s not silly. I can do some handy things, but not too much. I felt the energy in your story. I’m glad you shared it. Worry not. And, I do imagine it must have been quite complicated to communicate with the Mexican gardener. At least that hectic day is behind you :)
