Blogging Hats

My two true writing rooms are Red Room and Blogger. I have recently learned about Open Salon and have crossposted two blogs there, here—where am I?! It’s interesting when I begin writing. Often, it’s just the page, and me. But there are times when I have my Red Room hat on by way of the blog prompts or some other inspiration. Other times I have my Blogger hat on because it might be where I begin the writing day. I like it best when I don’t have any hat on and I just write, but right now, I have three hats on. I feel timid about joining Open Salon. I’m a stranger in this no man’s land of writers. I posted a short bio and a photo—not of me personally—but of a sculpture within a water fountain from a park in New Orleans. She’s my mask, my muse—she’s beautiful and a part of nature, a reflection of an aspect of myself—the beauty—that I am still learning to embrace.

Keiko, The content of my blog at Open Salon will probably be the same as here and RR. At some point, I may stop at Open Salon. I’ve only just started, so we will see. I’ll post the link to my blog and the main page. There are some interesting blogs and some blogs that look like spam or junk in the “most recent” section.

This could be a good place for you to get some more visibility if you like. I saw a couple of Red Room members there that I’m not acquainted with, but I recognized their photos.

Let me know what you think.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

As you say, hat or no hats, you have to remember who you are and where you are.:)

Rebb,

I looked at the site. It is interesting. I like "gun violence open call." Nothing like the articles that come from the person involved.

ZACL, That’s a good way to look at it: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

Yes, I must keep my personal hat planted firmly on my head. : )

I visited salon.com and found it promising. But if you are planning to write in a big, serious way it certainly would kill your energy and time. That is what I feel this days.

Hi Jitu, opensalon.com is a part of salon.com. I would not ever want to write for big publications for the very reasons you state. Opensalon.com is designed for individuals to have another place to blog. I'm glad you had a chance to check it out. It's hard to keep up with the online world of writing.
